Foreman/Supervisor - Landscape Construction

Summary:

The landscape Construction Foremen/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all on-site aspects of landscape construction projects.

Job Duties

  • Manage the execution of construction projects, planning labor requirements, equipment requirements, and material deliveries and timing to ensure completion of jobs in time and under budget

  • Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at client sites, company shop and company yard

  • Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project

  • Supervise, coordintate, and schedule the day-to-day work activities of the landscape construction crew of 1 to 4 employees

  • Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members

  • Conduct on-site orientations with new employees and employees in new positions – covering all company health and safety policies, practices, and procedures

  • Operate various tools and equipment – including heavy equipment, chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.

  • Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, posts, pergolas, planters, etc.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment – conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis

  • Ability to read and interpret 3D Models – blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications

  • Meet with and supervise subcontractors – ensuring quality, efficiency, and timeliness

  • Complete and submit daily paperwork – including daily site meeting logs, crew daily forms, equipment daily inspection forms, attendance tracking, time and materials billing summaries, requests for time off, etc.

  • Comply with all company policies and regulations

  • Ensure maintenance standards – uniform, clean, and organized trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas

  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulaitons

  • Train employees

  • Communicate with customers in a polite and professional manner


Requirements:

  • Five years’ experience in landscape, carpentry or construction industry

  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Ability to read and interpret 3D computer models, blueprints and specifications

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Smart phone or data-enabled device for reporting and communication


Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work with and tools, power tools, small engine equppment, heavy equipment, and materials

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift

  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent mental and physical stamina

  • Outdoor work in a variety of conditions – heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold

  • Flexible working hours – including occasional weekend work

Job Description

Foliaire Inc. is a Boston-based Interior/Exterior Plantscape company which has been in operation for over 40 years.  We are looking for a motivated individual to maintain foliage plants for our clients in the Boston Metro area.  Prior plant care experience is a definite plus. 

 

Applicant should have a car and a valid drivers license.
